Waiting

Meditation for the Saturday before Easter

Waiting God,

We love quick and immediate,

we dash to doors and our carts are instant

we are familiar with fast and good at just being fine.

But on this day we wait.

We wait, nothing to do but wait.

We wait, nothing to do but stay in the present.

opening our hearts to longing and hurt,

brokenness, grief and pain.

Nothing to do

but the real work.

Grant us the courage to show up,

riveted to the healing we must do,

the growing pains we must tend,

and the distractions we must set aside.

And so we, your waiting ones remember we are not alone

and with hopeful hearts we say, “Amen."

As you read finish, consider reading Mark 15: 40-47 and/or Mathew 27:55-66. Allow the readings and the litany some space in your day as you prepare for Easter. Journal, walk and ponder your waiting in this season.
