Eye of the Heart

Oh My God

I want total enlightenment

but also

a bit of gluttony, anger and sloth.

I want peace and stillness

but also

a bit of power,

a thicker skin and a commanding presence.

I want effortless style, poise and grace

without the work that might actually take.

I want to be calm and collected,

my triggers and buttons and baggage packed so far away.

I want results

without to much struggle

I want growth without the pain.

I want to give no f*cks,

take no shit and get out of other people’s games.

I want ice water in my veins, the coolest cucumber

staring down the biggest the dumper fire.

But You, seek practice

and patience…

even with ourselves.

Not a PhD or sacred stones or a 10 step devotion to unpack Plato.

Nothing in particular and yet a change to almost everything.

Your path is simple and hard

from seeing to sight,

from looking to vision,

from watching to witness.

You ask for more than right answers

To see with the eye of the heart

to thread the needle

to find the sacred awake in the every day

Centered in the storm, calm in chaos

seeing with the eye of the heart

rooted in a presence that can not be tamed

bold in being,

not battling with ego,

not distracted or drawn in to someone else game,

not derailed or driven off course

fully present, fueled and feed in a world that wants us to feel famished instead.

And so we resolve to try, one more time

to see with eyes that peer out from our heart

to do the work that will change everything.

May it be so,
Amen.
